Event Description

In more refined and gentle times, a motorist wouldn't dream of filling up their own tank.
Ladies, in particular, did not pump petrol: their own or anyone else's.

Unless they were Alice Anderson, who had a pioneering vision: to turn the mechanics trade into an accepted and aspirational career choice for women.

Join us for a presentation by historian and writer Loretta Smith, as she discusses her historical biography: "A Spanner in the Works: The Extraordinary Story of Alice Anderson and Australia's only all-girl garage".
