Event Description

Andrea Goldsmith’s most enduring – and reliable – love has been for fiction: reading it, writing it, thinking about it, and generally rummaging around in her imagination as she creates her characters and endows them with life.

In this talk she will share her passions about a job that takes her from her desk to a wintry St Petersburg for her most recent novel, Invented Lives, to the burning landscape of an active volcano for her Miles Franklin short-listed novel, The Prosperous Thief, and to some of the world’s best and worst monuments for The Memory Trap.

Andrea Goldsmith has published 8 novels. She is a frequent guest at Australian literary festivals, and is a well-known mentor of emerging writers. She lives in Melbourne.
