Harp and healing sounds

Event Description

Anke Arkensteyn and Carla Whiteley, both graduates of the International Harp Therapy Program, will be presenting an hour on the healing aspect of the sound of the harp.
Sound affects the human body, be it the noise of traffic, loud music, or the waves of the ocean or gentle music.
The Harp has been considered a healing instrument since ancient times. The vibrations of the strings that emanate from the harp, are absorbed by the body and can be beneficial in many situations.
Research has shown that the sound of the harp, in particular, creates a calming environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff in various healthcare facilities such as hospitals and aged care facilities
The sound of the harp has been shown to decrease blood pressure, reduce heart rate, relax the muscles, increase oxygenation, allow for the release of emotions, and give support to the dying.
