From Beer to Whisky (via Chocolate and Cheese) - a journey from Düsseldorf to Inverness, via Liechtenstein, Switzerland and France.

Event Description

Come along to Ferntree Gully Library and listen to travel writer Tim Richards as he recounts a travel writing trip he made by rail across Europe in 2019, taking in Düsseldorf, Wiesbaden, Vaduz, St Moritz, Zermatt, Interlaken, Lucerne, Zürich, Paris, Penzance, Inverness, and London.
Tim will tell stories from the journey and show how they ended up in published articles, including:
- A tour focused on Düsseldorf’s famous altbier beer;
- A meet-up with Neanderthals in the German forest;
- A stroll through one of Europe’s smallest countries;
- A luxurious train ride up and over Switzerland;
- A lofty visit to a James Bond movie location from 1969;
- A chocolate adventure in Lucerne;
- A ride in a Zürich tuk-tuk while eating fondue;
- Lunch at an Aussie café in Paris;
- An exploration of historic baths in London;
- A visit to a famous battleground in Scotland;
- A night train back from the remote Highlands.
