Come and learn about what biochar is and how to use it to improve your soil and plant health while storing carbon in a stable form in your garden. This workshop, facilitated by Yarra Valley ECOSS, will explain how biochar can increase water and nutrient retention and stimulate beneficial soil microbes and mycorrhizal fungi. The practical session will show you how to activate your biochar with your preferred nutrient mix and how to apply it to your garden. Biochar is now locally available, made at the Yarra Ranges Council facility, turning waste biomass into biochar. Learn how to put this great resource to use and assist in long term carbon storage in the ground.
