Event Concluded

Event Description

Edna Walling was Australia's first female land developer, with a trailblazing passion for garden construction and landscape design. In the 1920s, she created a village in Mooroolbark called Bickleigh Vale, beginning with her own cottage and gardens. Bickleigh Vale is one of Walling's most acclaimed achievements, and is still cared for by the current residents.

Maryann, current resident of Bickleigh Vale, will share her knowledge of Edna Walling's life and work, and give insight into life in Bickleigh Vale. Eight of Bickleigh Vale's gardens will be open to the public on October 12th and 13th - this talk will give you an extra appreciation of the gardens if you choose to visit.
