Event Description
Join us for a morning of Art and Music, in celebration of artist, Anudeepa Kadiresan's, Heritage Art of Tamil Nadu Exhibition.
This concert is an introduction to the world of Carnatic music, the classical music tradition of South India and will feature the Veena, an ancient South Indian instrument, known for its rich, mellow tone and the ability to slide smoothly between notes, giving the music a deeply expressive and vocal-like quality. Accompanying it is the Mridangam, a barrel-shaped hand drum with two sides, which plays a key role in keeping rhythm while also interacting musically with the melody in playful and complex ways.
Vaishnavi Muddam is a dedicated young Indian-Australian musician and physics student who, under the guidance of Smt. Shobha Sekhar OAM, has become an accomplished Veena performer, committed to elevating the Veena on the global stage through her passion for intercultural music and proficiency in both Carnatic and Western traditions on the flute and violin.
Shubhang Holavanahalli is currently a grade 9 student at Suzanne Cory High School. He is a senior student of Sri Balasri Rasiah and also training under Mirudangam maestro Sri T.R. Sundaresan.
