Event Description

Join us at Realm Library in Ringwood, to mark Refugee Week. This year’s theme, Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community, celebrates the power of connection and belonging. Together, we can help create a community that offers safety, support, and hope for a new beginning.

This special evening invites you to listen to powerful personal stories—and to share your own, if you feel comfortable.

Divesh Sareen, author of 'The Indian Mate', will present Migrant’s Life, a new initiative that celebrates, connects, and uplifts migrants, including refugees, across Australia. Divesh will share a short presentation and introduce some of the remarkable stories featured in the project.

Christine Wan, refugee, award-winning entrepreneur, and author of ‘Letting Go’, will share stories of resilience.

We’ll also connect via video with a talented refugee family from Afghanistan who have spent over seven years in immigration detention in Indonesia. They will share their experiences and showcase some of their deeply moving artwork, offering insight into the challenges and resilience of life as a refugee.

There will also be time for attendees to share their own stories in a supportive and respectful space.

Colouring activities will be available for any children in attendance.
